Getting started#
Is Discord Buddy free?#
Yes. Almost every feature is free, with generous limits. Premium is an optional monthly plan that raises those limits and adds a few extras like timed messages, longer analytics history and a custom bot. See the Premium page for plans and prices.
What do I need to set Buddy up?#
Manage Server (or Administrator) to add Buddy to a server, and Administrator to manage that server on the website. Start with Add Buddy to your server.
Does Buddy need Administrator?#
No. Add to Discord asks for a recommended set
that covers Buddy's features, /setup included. To open its panel, /setup only needs Buddy to have
View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the channel, and the panel's
health check tells you if anything else is
missing. Only /echo and /botinfo still need Buddy to have Administrator. You do still need
Administrator yourself to run /setup.
Can my moderators use the dashboard?#
Only members with Administrator in the server can open its dashboard. Moderators can still use
Buddy's commands their permissions allow (for example /warn with Manage Server). You can fine-tune
that with Command roles.
Can I manage more than one server?#
Yes. Each server has its own settings. Switch between them with Switch on the dashboard's server card, the server icons on the left of the dashboard, or Switch server in the account menu.
What happens if I remove Buddy from my server?#
Buddy stops working there and the website marks the server inactive, but your settings aren't deleted. If you add Buddy back later, most things carry on where they left off.
What languages does Buddy support?#
Buddy's own replies and the website are in English. Anything you write yourself, like welcome messages, auto responses and embeds, can be in any language. The server list shows each server's language from its primary language setting in Discord.
Server list#
Can I list my server without using the other features?#
Yes. Your listing is managed from the dashboard, so Buddy needs to be in your server, but you don't have to turn on anything else. On Server listing, switch on Show in directory and add a permanent invite link. See Server listing.
How does bumping work?#
Anyone in your server can run /bump. It moves your server to the top of the directory's default
Recently bumped order and shows your server's total bumps. A server can be bumped once every
2 hours, and each person can bump once every 30 minutes across all servers. Premium servers and
Premium members get shorter cooldowns.
/bump EveryoneBumps Current Server Up the Discords Server List on Discord-Buddy.com.
How do I report a server listing?#
Open the server's page and click Report this listing at the bottom of the side panel. You need to be logged in. Describe what our admins should review (up to 500 characters).
I was banned from a server. Can you unban me?#
No. Each server's own staff decide bans and appeals. If that server has ban appeals turned on, you'll see a Ban appeal button on its listing page while you're logged in. See Ban appeals.
Premium and billing#
Does Premium cover all my servers?#
Each plan covers a set number of servers. You choose which ones with /setup → Make Server
Premium, and can move Premium between servers later. See
How plans and servers fit together.
Can I cancel any time?#
Yes, from Account → My Premium. Your Premium stays active until the end of the month you've paid for. See Billing & subscriptions.
Customizing Buddy#
Can I rename Buddy or change its colours?#
Yes, for free: Bot settings in the dashboard has Bot nickname and Embed color. To use your own bot name and avatar everywhere, use Custom bot (Premium).
How do I see what changed in an update?#
After an update, Buddy shows you a short "New Discord Buddy Update" message the first time you use one of its commands. You can also follow announcements in our support server.
Your data#
What data does Buddy collect?#
The Privacy Policy lists everything Buddy and the website collect for each feature, how long it's kept and who it's shared with. Message content is never used to train AI.
How long are ticket transcripts kept?#
Ticket transcripts are deleted automatically 90 days after a ticket's last message. See Ticket transcripts.
How do I ask for my data to be deleted?#
Use the contact details in the Privacy Policy's Contact Us section. You don't need an account to make a request.
