Boost messages
Thank members publicly when they boost your server, with a custom message, boost count and level placeholders, embed style and auto delete.
On this page
Boosters keep your server's perks alive, so it's nice to say thanks. With boost messages on, Buddy posts a thank-you in the channel of your choice whenever a member boosts, with the new boost count and level if you like.
Before you start#
If your channel isn't in the Announcement channel list, run /setup in Discord, choose
Update Channels and Roles for Website, then refresh the dashboard.
Set it up#
It's under Automation & alerts in the sidebar.
In Boost announcements, choose the Announcement channel for thank-you messages, then click Save channel.
In Boost message, choose a Message style and Auto delete option, then write your Message (or leave it as is to use the default).
Click Save message.
To turn boost messages off, set Announcement channel to Disabled and click Save channel.
Set it up from Discord#
Run /setup feature:Boost Messages (or /setup → Automation & alerts → Edit next to
Boost messages). Pick the Boost channel, choose the Style and Auto delete from the
menus, and press Edit message to change the text. Preview shows you the message with you
as the booster, without posting or pinging anyone.
Settings explained#
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Announcement channel | Where boost thank-you messages are posted. Disabled turns them off. | Disabled |
| Message style | Regular Message posts plain text. Embed Message posts it in an embed with the booster's avatar, using your server's embed color from Bot settings. | Regular Message |
| Auto delete | Removes the message after 1, 5 or 10 minutes, or Disable to keep it. | Disable |
| Message | The text Buddy posts, up to 1024 characters. Supports placeholders. | See below |
If you've never saved a message, or you leave Message empty, Buddy uses the default shown in the box:
Thank you {user} for boosting {server}!
We are now at {boosts} boosts (Level {boostLevel}).Placeholders#
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{user} | A mention of the member who boosted |
{server} | Your server's name |
{boosts} | Your server's current number of boosts |
{boostLevel} | Your server's current boost level (0 to 3) |
{everyone} | An @everyone ping |
{role:ROLE_ID} | A mention of a role, e.g. {role:123456789012345678} |
{user:USER_ID} | A mention of a member |
{channel:CHANNEL_ID} | A link to a channel |
Examples#
A celebratory message, as an Embed Message:
🚀 **{user} just boosted {server}!**
We're now at **{boosts} boosts** (Level {boostLevel}). Thank you for the support! 💜
Boosters get a special color and access to {channel:123456789012345678}.What members see:
Mentions inside an embed (like {user} in the example above) show as a name but don't send a
notification. If you want the booster to get pinged, use Regular Message.
Troubleshooting#
Someone boosted but no message was posted#
- Check an Announcement channel is selected and saved (not Disabled).
- Buddy needs View Channel and Send Messages there. A missing permission is noted on the dashboard Error Log.
- Buddy announces a member's first boost. If someone who is already boosting adds a second boost, Discord doesn't report it as a new booster, so no new message is posted.
I cleared the message box#
That's fine. With Message empty, Buddy posts the default message (above). Your Message style and Auto delete choices still apply.
