Vibe check

Run /vibecheck to score the mood of a channel from 0 to 10 based on recent messages and reactions, with a fun AI-written line about the vibe.

Updated Oct 21, 2026
On this page

/vibecheck reads the room. Buddy looks at the last 50 messages in the channel and their reactions, gives the channel a vibe score from 0 to 10 and posts a rating with a fun one-liner. It's a quick icebreaker, and a gentle hint when things are getting heated.

Before you start#

Permissions needed

Buddy needs View Channel, Send Messages and Read Message History in the channel, and Embed Links to post the result. The person running it also needs Read Message History.

The one-liner is written by OpenAI. See AI and your messages for what's sent.

How it works#

Run the command

Type /vibecheck in the channel you want to check. There are no options.

Buddy scores the channel

Every channel starts at 5. Happy words and emoji raise the score, gloomy ones lower it, and some high-energy emoji add a little extra.

Read the result

Buddy posts an embed with the Score, a Rating and, if the AI is available, a Vibe line.

What moves the score:

Counts asWords and emojiEffect
Positivegood, great, awesome, love, fantastic, yay, lol, haha, 😍, 😊+0.5 each
Negativebad, sad, angry, terrible, hate, ugh, 😢, 😡, 😭, 👎−0.7 each
Chaotic🤪, 🤯, 🔥, 😂, 😜+0.3 each

Words must stand on their own (separated by spaces) to count, and every reaction on a message counts once per person who added it.

Anyone who can send messages can use it, unless you limit it with command roles.

AI and your messages#

The score itself is worked out by Buddy without AI. For the Vibe line, Buddy sends OpenAI the score, the three most common words or emoji in the last 50 messages, and the 5 most recent member messages with their usernames. If the AI isn't available, the result is posted without the Vibe line. See the Privacy Policy for how this text is handled.

When AI is set up, /vibecheck shares the same limits as the other AI commands: one run per person per minute, and a shared budget for the whole server.

Troubleshooting#

The score seems off#

It's a light-hearted word count, not real mood analysis. Sarcasm, other languages and words stuck to punctuation ("great!") aren't understood. Messages from bots in the channel are included too.

"AI commands are cooling down"#

You (or your server) used up the AI limit. Wait the number of seconds shown and run it again.

There's no Vibe line#

The AI wasn't available, so Buddy posted just the score and rating.

"Buddy is missing a permission"#

The card names what's missing. Give Buddy Read Message History in the channel, along with View Channel and Send Messages. Members with Manage Server can also use the card's Fix permissions button, unless a channel override is what blocks Buddy.
